Kitchen prices in Tenerife cannot be boiled down to a single figure, because each kitchen is made up of different items. The calculator above gives you a guide price range including IGIC (the Canary Islands sales tax, 7 %) based on the length, range, worktop and appliances you choose, and the items below explain what moves that range.

What the price depends on

The cost of a kitchen is split across seven items, and the ones that weigh most are the units and the worktop.

  • Linear metres of units. This is the basis of the calculation: the more metres of base units, wall units and tall units, the more material and the more hours of manufacture.
  • Unit range. The carcass (the body of the unit) and the hardware are what separate one range from another: board thickness, soft-close drawer runners, adjustable hinges.
  • Door material. Laminate costs less than lacquer, and natural wood or handleless doors with a gola profile push the price up.
  • Worktop. Laminate is the most affordable option; quartz, granite, porcelain and sintered stone rise in price according to the material and thickness. We compare them on the worktops page.
  • Appliances. An integrated appliance costs more than the same freestanding model, and the cooker hood can vary a great deal depending on the model.
  • Building work. If water points need moving, the tiling changing or the electrics redoing, the kitchen becomes a kitchen renovation.
  • Fitting. This covers transport, levelling, adjustments and installing the sink, tap and appliances.

IGIC instead of VAT

In Tenerife a kitchen is taxed with IGIC, whose standard rate is 7 %, instead of the 21 % VAT (IVA) charged in mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. That is why the prices you see on Spanish national websites are not comparable with a quote in the Canary Islands unless the tax is taken into account. In our quote, IGIC appears on a separate line. For some home refurbishment work the regulations provide for different rates; if that applies to you, we state it in the quote.

What tends to make a kitchen more expensive and what does not

What adds most to the cost is anything that involves building work or making special pieces. Moving the sink to an island, opening a new extraction outlet, asking for full-colour lacquered doors or choosing a large-format worktop with lots of cuts all push the figure up noticeably.

Other decisions barely move the price. Taking the wall units up to the ceiling adds a little material but gains a lot of storage. Swapping one laminate colour for another in the same range does not change the price, and building to measure does not always cost more than fitting modular units with filler panels. If you are trying to keep the budget down, also look at our affordable kitchens from a fixed range or the ex-display kitchens on clearance, which are adapted to your measurements at a reduced price.

Why the exact price is set after the measure-up

The exact price can only be given with the real measurements of the kitchen. A difference of 20 centimetres changes which units fit, a pillar means making a special piece and a wall that is out of square affects the worktop. That is why the calculator gives a range and the final quote comes after the visit.

That quote is given in writing and itemised, with what it includes and what it does not. If you would like to spread the payment, see the options for financing your kitchen. And if you are still at the beginning, the guide on buying a kitchen in Tenerife puts the steps in order before you ask for quotes.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Are delivery and carrying everything up to the flat charged separately?

In the quote, transport within the island and fitting appear as itemised entries. If access is difficult, for example a flat with no lift or a street where a lorry cannot stop, we look at it during the visit and put it in writing.

Can I buy the appliances myself?

Yes. We give you the fitting dimensions so you can buy them wherever you like, and we build them in during the installation. It is just worth confirming the model before manufacture, because each manufacturer requires slightly different housings and ventilation.

How long is a quote valid for?

The quote itself states its validity date, because the prices of boards, worktops and appliances change during the year. If you accept it within that period, the quoted amount stands.

Is it more expensive to refit the kitchen in a holiday let?

The cost of the kitchen is the same, but other things tend to come into play: the working hours the community of owners allows, the need to finish before a booking or access to complexes with limited parking. We discuss it during the visit to plan the work.
